A five-hour World Music Heritage Festival is coming to the Clearwater Historical Society's museum campus on Saturday, Nov. 14, marking a new collaboration between the society and Clearwater-based nonprofit Opera for Earth Corporation.

The festival will run from noon to 5 p.m. at 610 S. Fort Harrison Ave., on the five-acre grounds of the historic South Ward School, according to the society's event listing. Specific performers and ticket prices have not yet been announced.

Opera for Earth Corporation, a 501(c)(3) founded by Jodi Karem, uses performing arts to raise awareness about environmental conservation. The organization also runs an education initiative that breaks down the stories behind the music for audiences. Karem serves as president of the Clearwater-based group.

The Historical Society, led by President Allison Dolan and Vice President Jay Rhodes, has operated the museum and cultural center since June 2019. The campus includes six buildings anchored by a schoolhouse built in 1906, the first Clearwater school paid for with public funds. The society leases the property from the Pinellas County School Board for $1 a year under a 50-year agreement signed in 2014.

Three events before November

Residents don't have to wait until fall. The society has a Third Saturday Tea, a Macramé Workshop with Mary, and a Labor Day Tea on the books between now and September. Pricing and registration details were not listed on the society's website as of Tuesday, Aug. 4.
