Threshers Rout Hammerheads 15-4 Behind Eight-Run Fifth Inning

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Clearwater Threshers pounded the Jupiter Hammerheads 15-4 on Tuesday, riding an eight-run fifth inning to their fifth straight win and improving to 57-39 on the season.

Cardoza Debut Highlighted By Career-High Four RBIs

Victor Cardoza made his Threshers debut count. The newcomer hit a leadoff homer in the third inning, then cleared the bases with a three-run double in the fifth to finish with four RBIs, a new career high, according to the team's game recap.

Eight-Run Fifth Breaks Open Tie Game

The game was tied 2-2 through four innings before Clearwater's offense erupted. Cardoza singled to open the fifth and advanced to second on a throwing error. Robert Phelps followed with a two-run homer over the left-field wall to put the Threshers ahead for good.

The rally continued as Jonathan Hogart drove in a run with a single, Nolan Beltran singled, Hammerheads shortstop Luis Arana committed a throwing error, and TJayy Walton and Will Vierling each walked before Cardoza capped the inning with his bases-clearing double. In all, the Threshers scored eight runs to break the tie.

Sixth-Inning Surge Adds Four More Runs

Clearwater tacked on four more runs in the sixth. Hogart singled in a run, Matthew Ferrara added a two-run single, and Vierling contributed a sacrifice fly. Phelps also drove in a run with a double in the sixth, giving him multiple RBIs on the night.

Beltran went 3 for 5, tying his career high in hits for the fourth time this season.

Velásquez Earns First Win As Bullpen Locks Down Finish

Starter Sean Youngerman struck out a career-high six batters in four innings but did not factor in the decision after allowing two runs on four hits. Giuseppe Velásquez (1-0, 1.59 ERA) picked up his first win of 2026, allowing one run on two hits over two innings. MT Morrissey closed it out with two hitless, scoreless innings in his first multi-inning appearance in more than a month.

Series Continues Wednesday In Jupiter

The Threshers posted their two highest-scoring innings of the 2026 season in the win. Jupiter fell to 48-49 overall and 11-20 in the second half.
