A Michelin Bib Gourmand-winning taco restaurant from Tampa will set up shop in downtown Clearwater's restored Peoples Bank Building, marking the second dining concept from the same hospitality group to land on Cleveland Street in two weeks.

Streetlight Taco, led by executive chef and partner Michael Brannock, plans to open at 432 Cleveland St. by the end of 2026, according to a press release reported by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The restaurant earned its Bib Gourmand distinction in the 2024 Michelin Guide for its original location at 4004 Henderson Blvd. in Tampa, which opened that same year.

CEO Says New Location Will Complement Downtown Energy

"That energy is what we hope to bring to Cleveland Street — something that complements everything else that's happening downtown," Nick Reader, CEO of parent company Tastes Pretty Good Hospitality, said in a statement announcing the expansion.

The menu centers on tacos but also includes tostadas, burritos, chips and dips, mercado sides, and tres leches.

Restaurant Will Occupy Restored 1910 Bank Building

Streetlight will occupy the ground floor of the Peoples Bank Building, a 1910 structure transformed in the 1920s into a Mediterranean Revival landmark. The Cleveland Street Alliance completed an $8.2 million restoration of the building in May, according to city of Clearwater project records. The work included $5.6 million in historic preservation, reconstruction of the terra-cotta façade, and full restoration of the building's four-faced clock.

Second Restaurant Announcement In Two Weeks

The announcement follows Tastes Pretty Good's mid-July reveal of Rippers, a hot dog-centric casual American restaurant planned for the restored Telephone Building at 534 Cleveland St. When that project was announced July 13, Reader told I Love the Burg that his team "understood the vision" for Clearwater and "knew we wanted to be part of it."

Tastes Pretty Good's Tampa portfolio also includes Michelin-starred Rocca, Bar Terroir, and Lumbre, a Spanish concept that opened July 15 in North Hyde Park.

Cleveland Street Redevelopment Includes Dozens Of Projects

The Cleveland Street Alliance, a real estate and redevelopment group associated with the Church of Scientology, has said 23 projects are underway along the corridor. Among them: an approximately $50 million, 83,000-square-foot family entertainment complex at Cleveland Street and Myrtle Avenue, to be built by Texas-based EVO Entertainment, according to WUSF reporting in April.

Other recent arrivals include Nourish & Nosh Bakery Bistro, a European-style café that opened at 601 Cleveland St. in early July. Co-owner Nea Porta, originally from Helsinki, Finland, said when the café opened that "it's very exciting to be here on Cleveland Street right now because it's the beginning of all the development happening here."

• Mega Asian Food & Music Festival on the Water: Friday, Aug. 21, through Sunday, Aug. 23, at Coachman Park. Free admission. The Downtown Development Board approved a $30,000 High Impact Event Grant to support the three-day celebration of Asian cultures, cuisine and live entertainment.
