A multi-vehicle crash shut down all northbound lanes of Belcher Road at Nursery Road in Clearwater on Aug. 5, forcing police to divert traffic and leaving commuters searching for alternate routes.
Clearwater Police and Largo Fire Rescue both responded to the intersection, according to WTSP. Officers diverted traffic along Nursery Road while crews worked the scene.
Drivers heading north on Belcher were directed to take Nursery Road west to U.S. 19 or east to Keene Road as alternates.
Details Remain Limited From Responding Agencies
Neither Clearwater Police nor Largo Fire Rescue had released an official statement as of Wednesday afternoon. WTSP reported it had calls out to both agencies for additional information.

@IONTB: "Clearwater: Vehicle crash with extrication reported at Belcher Road and Nursery Road. Two trauma patients. Avoid the area."
Those details have not been confirmed by either responding agency. The number of vehicles involved and the severity of injuries remain unverified.
Intersection Has Seen Prior Serious Crashes
The Belcher Road and Nursery Road intersection has seen serious crashes before. In February 2024, Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a rollover crash at the same spot that resulted in only minor injuries.
