Archer, Glenn earn player of the game honors
Joseph Archer and Jaysean Glenn earned MaxPreps player of the game honors for the Northeast win. Glenn has been a recurring name on that list. He and Archer also earned the distinction after Clearwater's 38-3 win at St. Petersburg Sept. 11, alongside Kevin Williams and Jack Wang.
Five of six opponents held to 14 points or fewer
The defense has been the story all fall.
Clearwater shut out Dunedin 16-0 Aug. 28, then blanked crosstown rival Countryside 26-0 Sept. 4. The Tornadoes held St. Petersburg to three points a week later. Even in their closest game, a 24-14 win over a previously unbeaten Largo squad Sept. 18, the defense held the Packers to 14 points.
Head coach T. Jozwiak's squad opened the season with a 40-19 road win at East Lake Aug. 21. Since that opener, no opponent has scored more than 14 points against Clearwater.
SI High School Florida listed Clearwater among the state's undefeated teams entering Week 6, noting the Tornadoes had held four of five opponents to 14 points or fewer. After the Northeast shutout, that number stands at five of six.
The Tornadoes' social media account celebrated the win, calling it "another defensive shut out" and pointing fans toward an upcoming senior night.
District stretch run begins Oct. 9
