A new countywide arts campaign will bring world music, jazz and an international lantern festival to Clearwater this fall as part of more than 30 cultural events across Pinellas County.

Art Everywhere, organized by Creative Pinellas and funded by Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, runs Nov. 1 through Dec. 6. The program awarded $350,000 in grants to nearly 30 artists and arts organizations, 83 Degrees Media reported.

The funding comes from tourist development tax revenue allocated to Visit St. Pete-Clearwater through an arts tourism initiative approved by the Pinellas County Commission in March.

The campaign's partners also include Clearwater Arts Alliance and St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, according to Paradise News.

Clearwater hosts three major arts events

Opera for Earth's World Music Heritage Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Clearwater Historical Society Museum. Admission is free with advance registration.

The Suncoast Jazz Festival follows Nov. 20-22 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Clearwater Beach, bringing jazz performances to the waterfront venue.

The campaign concludes Sunday, Dec. 6, with the inaugural Clearwater Illuminations: Lantern Festival & International Night Market at Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater.

Organized by Clearwater Sister Cities, the festival celebrates Clearwater's international relationships, including its sister-city partnership with Nagano, Japan.

Clearwater Sister Cities Executive Director Stephanie Chill told 83 Degrees Media in August that the Art Everywhere grant helped make the long-discussed event possible.

"Once we get this kickstarted, I see it becoming a really strong international partnership with our sister city," Chill said.

The Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin Art Harvest also received funding through the campaign.

Museum Week opens celebration Nov. 1

Art Everywhere begins with Museum Week, Nov. 1-8, featuring exhibitions and performances at cultural institutions throughout Pinellas County.

Participating museums include the Dalí Museum, Florida Holocaust Museum, James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art, Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg and Penny Lane Beatles Museum.

Highlights include the Dalí Museum's opening-night celebration for Dalí: Disruption & Devotion on Friday, Nov. 6.

The Florida Holocaust Museum will present selections from RISE: The Rock Musical on Sunday, Nov. 8. The James Museum also plans a Native American Heritage Month celebration that day, with free admission.

The campaign is designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore cultural attractions throughout Pinellas County, including venues outside the region's established arts districts.
