Clearwater Fundamental Middle School appears at No. 23 in a statewide list of public middle schools from U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 rankings, Patch reported Oct. 23.

The Clearwater school was the only Pinellas County campus on the published top-25 list. Pine View School in Osprey ranked first.

The ranking evaluates reading and math performance using state education data and U.S. Department of Education information, while accounting for student backgrounds. It provides one measure families can consider alongside school programs and their children’s needs.

Families exploring Pinellas County magnet and fundamental programs can attend the South County Fair Oct. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Gibbs High School, according to the district’s application information.

The initial application period for the 2027-28 school year runs Jan. 5-15, 2027, followed by an acceptance period Feb. 10-19. The district lists March 23 as the opening of late applications.
