Gasparino's First Pro Triple Gives Threshers Lead

The score held at 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth. Nolan Beltran was hit by a pitch, Jonathan Hogart drew a walk and Will Gasparino cleared the bases with a triple that gave Clearwater a 3-2 lead. It was Gasparino's first triple as a professional.

Tarpons Rally Late to Retake Control

That lead lasted two innings. Tampa tied the game on a two-out double in the eighth, and Wilberson De Peña followed with a two-run homer to put the Tarpons ahead 5-3. Two more Tampa runs in the top of the ninth stretched the margin to 7-3.

Ninth-Inning Comeback Falls Just Short

Clearwater made a push in the bottom of the ninth. Gasparino singled to lead off, and Macon Winslow drew a walk. Will Vierling drove in Gasparino with a single. After two outs, Reece Moroney delivered an RBI single to pull the Threshers within 7-5. Clearwater could not complete the comeback.

Hogart reached base safely in each of the Threshers' final 18 games, a streak dating to Aug. 12 that spanned the regular season and playoffs.
