A rooftop bar called Salt & Sky has opened at the AC Hotel Clearwater Beach, adding a rebranded drinking and dining spot with Gulf and Intracoastal Waterway views.

The renovated space features a redesigned bar, elevated seating and an updated menu of small plates, salads and desserts, Tampa Bay Beacons reported. The project also added a connected 947-square-foot private event space.

Lizzie Long, the hotel's marketing manager, said Salt & Sky is designed to showcase the rooftop views above Clearwater Beach. Long described the bar as a place to settle in for an evening with fresh cocktails and shareable food.

TripAdvisor ranked Clearwater Beach the second-best beach in the United States for 2026 and 17th worldwide, according to Tampa Bay 28. About 2,300 people live on the beach full time, and the local economy depends heavily on tourists and weekend visitors.

The AC Hotel has not announced specific hours or reservation details for the new event space.

Library marks 110 years with Carnegie celebration

Across the causeway in downtown Clearwater, the Clearwater Public Library System is preparing to mark 110 years of service.

A free event titled "Celebrating 110 Years: The Carnegie Legacy Continues" runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Heritage Studio on the Main Library's fourth floor at 100 N. Osceola Ave. It is open to all ages.

The anniversary traces back to 1916, when philanthropist Andrew Carnegie gave the city $10,000 to help build its first public library. That original library stood on the same site where the Main Library sits today.

The Carnegie Foundation has awarded the library system a new $10,000 grant in honor of the nation's 250th anniversary, continuing a financial relationship that stretches back to the library's founding, according to the Beacons report.
